Introducing SOLO
stand alone label
printer system

SOLO is a unique stand alone thermal transfer printer labelling solution incorporating variable data, barcode symbologies and database integration without the need for a PC or any programming.

SOLO comprises a robust thermal transfer printer, a standalone keyboard with its own onboard processor, and SOLO Studio – a powerful PC design programme allowing users to design sophisticated label templates incorporating barcodes, serial numbers and other variable data. With the compact SOLO keyboard connected, these templates can then be transferred to the keyboard which can then be detached from the PC for standalone printing using simple user prompts. This makes it ideal for production and packing areas or any situation where a PC is not suitable.

SOLO Printer is available with a range of accessories including a cutter or peeler module and an external battery pack for complete mobility. Other compatible devices include hand-held barcode scanners and weigh scales making SOLO a versatile solution with countless applications.

Here are a few of the applications for which SOLO is currently being used:

- Sandwich labelling printer
Replace your customers' outsourcing costs with SOLO and allow labels to be printed on-demand from a database containing ingredients, nutritional information, prices, best before information etc. Provide your customer with pre-printed labels containing colour images and logos.

- Weight-based labelling printer
SOLO can be simply integrated with weigh scales or other input devices. By including scripts for calculating prices and generating barcodes, SOLO provides an effective low-cost solution for on-demand labelling involving weight measurements.

- Frozen food labelling printer
For any company working with frozen produce and having to consider defrosting times and use-by dates, accurate labelling is critical. SOLO provides a quick, robust and dependable solution with timescale's calculated on-demand.

- Service reminders
Already proving popular in the States, printed labels or window-cling stickers containing details of service due dates offer a convenient notice to motorists while offering customer retention benefits to garages. Simple user prompts mean garage staff can easily produce accurate, professional service reminders on-site without relying on a PC.

- Medical printer
The labelling requirements demanded by the medical industry are wide and varied and many can be achieved using SOLO. Solo is an ideal thermal transfer printer for Pharmacy applications

There are a variety of different types of bar codes. However, the U.P.C. symbol is the most recognized bar code in the United States, since it appears on almost every retail product. The U.P.C. symbol is the bar code representation of the UCC-12. (Universal Product Number) which consists of twelve numeric characters that uniquely identify a company's individual product. Although, the initial U.P.C. usage was focused on retail point of sale (POS), many other industries have adopted this coding structure.

FOOD LABELS Explained - - Food labels carry useful information to help you make choices about food. The food label will tell you if the food contains an additive that you may want to avoid. The nutrition information panel allows you to compare similar products and choose the one that suits your needs. The 'use by' or 'best before' date means that food stored in the recommended way will remain of good quality until that date. However, these terms are not interchangeable. For example, it may be safe to eat foods after their 'best before' date, but they may have lost quality and some nutritional value.
